The best place to start is where you’re at currently. You can do this by keeping a food journal. Simply track on paper or an app what you consume daily. Be sure to track water intake as well as other beverages. 7-14 days of tracking can provide an informative & accurate snapshot of current nutrition habits.

There is no one size fits all diet. Every person is biochemically unique; there is only one you. With that said the best “diet” to follow is going to be consuming a good balance of REAL food, making sure to include lean proteins, veggies, & sprouted grains. Discovering what your own super foods are will be highly beneficial.

In everyday life…NO! Eating nutrient dense foods eliminates the need to count calories because you will never be consuming “empty” calories. A good example is a Snickers bar has calories. This means you can add it in to your daily caloric intake. However, your body is not receiving any nutrients from those calories. The exception to this would be if you’re training very specifically for something, and even then it’s on a short-term basis.

You should avoid grains if you specifically have sensitivities to certain grains. You should avoid wheat if you have been diagnosed with Celiac disease, or have sensitivities due to GI conditions. In general everyone should avoid wheat unless it is non GMO & gluten free or sprouted wheat. This is because wheat is one of the top GMO foods in the United States, meaning that is highly processed & we are unable to digest it entirely. This leads to other, very serious health issues that could become chronic.

Juicing & green smoothies are incredibly beneficial to maintaining the body’s internal balance. Fasting is rarely necessary, & this is because our digestive system needs nutrients in order for maximum function. There are effective protocols to detox without fasting.
